☛ Bukowskis: Lot no. 631, Ingmar Bergman with wife Käbi Laretei photographed by Lennart Nilsson in the 60s. One of six photographs of Ingmar Bergman, including two by Lennart Nilsson, to be auctioned on May 29, 2013.

Bukowskis does not have the exact dater for the photos, although one of them is known to be from 1963 (see below). The Swedish auction house provides the following description for the whole lot:

Photographs in black and white and colour depicting Ingmar Bergman and his family. Two photographs by Lennart Nilsson, mark with his name signed at the back. 29,5 x 24 – 12,5 x 9 cm. Wear, some minor stains and folding at some corner.

The photos come from Käbi Laretei personal collection. Laretei, an accomplished concert pianist, was married to Ingmar Bergman from 1959 to 1969. Together they had a son, Daniel Bergman, which appears on one of the photo included in the lot. This photo, along with the one displayed above are from distinguished Swedish photographer Lennart Nilsson. The photo showing Daniel walking toward Bergman must be dated from 1963 (it was taken form the same session as another one which is adequately identified on Lennart Nilsson’s official website). More similar photos can be found online showing both the couple on the same picnic blanket and the son playing with the camera. They were likely taken during the same photo sessions (see more of Nilsson’s photos at Bukowskis). Since all the photos from this lot come from Käbi Laretei collection, it is possible she took the two color portraits of Bergman herself (see below).
